Some Principles of Maritime Strategy provides concise quotations for a revised book about Julian Corbett. The earlier manuscript met its technical aims, but it did not yet read as smoothly or invitingly as intended. The revision draws on Corbett's own phrasing while trying to produce history that readers want to keep reading. Technical accuracy was already present, and the remaining work was to make the history easier to follow and harder to put down.
