The mixed-fleet proposal places conventional submarines alongside nuclear boats in American and British service. The proposal is a mixed force rather than a direct replacement for nuclear-powered attack submarines. It could also give Australia and Canada more ways to contribute during stages of AUKUS cooperation. The proposal links the boats' operational roles with additional ways for allies to participate.
