Geography reversed British and German service priorities

Germany's continental position made the army senior to its air force and navy, while Britain's maritime position kept the Royal Navy ahead of the RAF.

Notes

The comparison ties inter-service funding to geography rather than prestige alone. Germany had to finance its army first, with the Luftwaffe also outranking the Kriegsmarine for scarce resources. Britain reversed the order: naval needs could beat RAF claims, while the army generally remained third. A renewed Anglo-German naval race would therefore play into the service Britain was structurally best placed to fund and leave the German fleet competing from a weaker position.
