A standard high-cube shipping container is about 2.9 metres tall, while the self-defence Mark 41 launcher starts at 5.3 metres. The larger Mark 57 installation reaches about 7.9 metres, creating an even greater mismatch. The Sylver comparison runs from a shorter launcher of about 3.5 metres to about seven metres for A70, still beyond the container's height. Launchers also have fixed module arrangements, commonly eight cells for Mark 41 and much of the Sylver family. Turning a 20-foot container on its side does not make its dimensions fit the proposed installation. Missiles and their systems have been growing, so packaging existing VLS into ordinary containers remains a physical design problem.

Why containerized VLS does not fit cleanly
Standard container dimensions collide with the height and module layout of modern vertical launch systems.
