A Commonwealth escort industrial base

Distributing escort construction across Commonwealth yards could have expanded local navies, machinery production, technical skills, and wartime mobilization capacity.

Notes

The proposed program is both naval preparation and industrial policy. Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and India could build and operate the ships locally. Distributed orders would broaden turbine, engine, weapons, and light-armament supply chains while teaching Commonwealth navies to maintain the vessels they would use. Regular peacetime production would develop yards and trained personnel before emergency expansion made every bottleneck more costly.
