Spreading better dual-purpose guns across Commonwealth escorts

British and Commonwealth navies could benefit across many ships, although global commitments would limit their concentration compared with the US Navy.

Notes

Claire Clark considers the Royal Navy and its related navies well placed to exploit better dual-purpose systems on many destroyers and escorts. They could eventually gain much of the supporting radar fire control and proximity-fuze capability. Worldwide commitments would still prevent the concentration of force achieved by the US Navy. Less attrition in the Mediterranean could improve convoy protection and leave more modern destroyers available elsewhere. Additional escorts for Force Z are a tentative possibility, with doubt over whether they would be enough to save either capital ship.
