HMCS Cayuga was completed after the Second World War, undertook three Korean deployments, and later emerged from reconstruction as a destroyer escort. She served in the Second Canadian Escort Squadron during major 1955 exercises off California, when NATO navies were still learning repeatable multinational procedures at scale. Older Tribal hulls supplied training, screening, and command capacity while the alliance matured. Their continued service prevented a serious gap in the Royal Canadian Navy's postwar force structure.
