Why the extra carrier hulls matter most

The decisive change comes from a much larger carrier force and the experience, options, and resilience it creates.

Notes

Extra scout carriers free fleet carriers for concentrated operations while covering reconnaissance, anti-submarine work, and convoy escort. The scenario raises the opening-war carrier force from roughly seven or eight to around sixteen, potentially reaching eighteen or nineteen if older experimental ships return to service. Argus, Eagle, and possibly Hermes are among those considered for recall. More decks over two decades would also give captains, damage-control officers, junior officers, and midshipmen more opportunities to gain carrier experience. The advantage includes both the ships available at the outbreak of war and the experience accumulated before it.
