Would strike drones allow a smaller carrier to match the air power of a ninety-aircraft supercarrier?
Short answerNot automatically. Capable drones still take substantial space, require control capacity, and need material support.
NotesReplacing crewed aircraft with drones does not make carrier capacity independent of physical size. More capable drones tend to grow, and the carrier-capable X-47 was still comparable in footprint to a crewed aircraft despite its efficient flying-wing form. A ship must also control the aircraft and carry them within combat range, while an opposing supercarrier can exploit even more space for the same technology. Three-dimensional printing might replace some components, but it cannot eliminate the need to carry feedstock and other support resources.
