Do hangar positions make some aircraft fly more often?

A viewer asks whether an aircraft's storage position determines how heavily it is used, prompting a reminder that deck and hangar arrangements change with the operating cycle.

Question

Do some carrier aircraft get used more simply because of where they are stored?

Short answer

Not generally. Aircraft rotate through operations, maintenance, deck parking, and hangar storage, so the arrangement seen at one moment is not a fixed priority order.

Notes

One hangar position does not permanently condemn an aircraft to heavier use. Airframes circulate as some fly, some prepare, and others undergo maintenance. Helicopters or fixed-wing aircraft may be parked on deck on one day and brought below on another. The hangar can therefore look spacious during one operating state and tightly packed during another. Carrier photographs are snapshots of a changing cycle rather than permanent layouts.
