Chapter · 44:32-47:33

The Tribal class in Canadian naval identity

Canadian Tribals helped shape the Royal Canadian Navy, while preserved HMCS Haida provides a surviving example and an archival trail back to her Newcastle construction.

Notes

The Canadian Tribals were central to the Royal Canadian Navy's development, while their famous names had disappeared from active use by this 2020 recording. HMCS Haida survives at Hamilton, Ontario, as a museum ship and a preserved wartime-built Tribal. Her construction plans can also be studied in the Tyne and Wear Archives, connecting the surviving ship to Vickers' Newcastle building record.
