Would 200 Canadian Avro Lincolns have outlasted the Royal Canadian Air Force's Lancasters?
Short answerNot necessarily; the Lincoln added little for coastal patrol, cost more to maintain, and might be retired on the same schedule.
NotesA newer airframe does not guarantee a longer Canadian service life when the mission remains maritime patrol. The Lincoln offered little beyond a somewhat larger and more maintenance-intensive version of the Lancaster for that work. Politicians might first cut the older, larger Lancaster fleet in the name of modernization and then remove the smaller Lincoln fleet because it was expensive or unnecessary. The historical longevity of Canadian Lancasters therefore makes a simple age-based answer unreliable.
