TOG 2 began while work on the first vehicle was still continuing. Routing the return tracks lower inside the hull made space for a larger turret ring than the earlier all-round track arrangement allowed. The revised layout also retained space for a fighting compartment and possible side armament. Early mockups explored several weapons, but the completed tank received neither the proposed hull gun nor the machine-gun sponsons. The diesel-electric drive remained, and the account does not report the same motor burnouts as on TOG 1. A hull 33 feet 3 inches long and only 10 feet 3 inches wide remained difficult to steer, especially on soft ground. The width stayed just within the revised railway loading gauge. The tank lacked sprung suspension and reached only about 8 mph. A dummy cast-iron turret brought its weight to 62 tons.
