Prince Robert, Prince Henry, and Prince David were built in 1930 as passenger ships for Canadian National Railways. During the Second World War they became armed merchant cruisers. Their later conversions diverged: Prince Robert became an anti-aircraft escort, while Prince Henry and Prince David became infantry landing ships. A 1:1250 model of Prince Robert in her 1943 configuration therefore needs to distinguish her fittings from those of her sisters and from her own later alterations.
