How an early capture of Narvik could have focused Allied reinforcement

A secure Narvik is proposed as a way to concentrate Allied arrivals and join the northern Norwegian army despite German air supply.

Notes

German forces could receive supplies and reinforcements by air during the Norwegian campaign. The counterfactual response centres on capturing Narvik early enough to give arriving Allied troops a clear port of entry. They could then join Fleischer's northern forces for an advance south. A secure destination would also remove much of the dispute over where British forces should land and the associated friction between naval and army commanders. The proposed advantage depends on achieving that early success at Narvik; German air supply does not disappear from the scenario.
