Embarking aircraft after the ground crews had already left

Crossley's pilots had to move and start their own aircraft with a single battery trolley before flying out to Implacable.

Notes

Mike Crossley's ground crews were already aboard Implacable when the pilots prepared to fly out to join them. With no RAF help available, the pilots had to push their aircraft into position and share one heavy 12-volt battery trolley among fourteen aircraft. Two flights then landed aboard in three minutes and twenty seconds, followed by six remaining aircraft. Later practice was interrupted by problems with the carrier's hydraulics and arresting wires that would not reset.
