Meteor missiles against surface ships

Target size, damage requirements and missile reach limit Meteor's usefulness against large ships.

Notes

Meteor attacks aircraft whose fuel, computers and essential systems occupy a comparatively small target. A large warship has far more mass and spreads equipment across its hull. A hit might disable radar or another important system, while sinking requires uncontrollable fire or flooding beyond pumping capacity. Splitting the missile into kinetic darts adds uncertainty about penetration and impact location. Some fragments would strike spaces or equipment the ship could afford to lose. Against longer-ranged weapons such as BrahMos, carrying many small missiles offers less value if their ship must approach closely and penetrate defences with a large salvo.
