Why removing the crew need not shrink an aircraft

An uncrewed aircraft can use the space saved by removing people to carry additional fuel or weapons.

Notes

Removing the crew leaves space that a designer can use for fuel or weapons. An uncrewed aircraft can therefore retain a substantial airframe while carrying more useful load. Predictions that drones will necessarily become smaller overlook that choice. The expected size depends on how the design uses the space previously occupied by people.
