Aegis is being replaced through continued evolution

Is there a plan to replace the Aegis combat system?

Its replacement is effectively the next generation of Aegis, developed through continuing upgrades and new standards rather than a clean break.

The next system is still Aegis in an improved form. Continuing standards upgrades progressively replace older capabilities instead of producing a sharply separate successor. Modernization therefore proceeds as a sequence rather than at a single replacement date.
