Question

What cheaper ship should the Terran fleet have in a new Stargate series?

Short answer

The alternatives are a cheap corvette or a light fleet cruiser that retains useful capability below the BC-304 battlecruiser, with the cruiser costing more than the corvette.

Notes

A corvette is one answer to the request for a cheap Terran spacecraft. A second proposal favours a light or fleet cruiser, since the BC-304 is treated as a battlecruiser and leaves room for a smaller cruising type. The cruiser would retain useful capability at lower cost than a battlecruiser. It would still cost more than a corvette, so the two proposals fill different gaps in the fleet.
