From cruiser carrier to light fleet carrier

How compatible were cruiser-carrier and light fleet fighter-carrier roles?

They were closely related: the small cruiser-carrier concept developed toward escort carriers and the Unicorn-influenced Colossus light fleet carrier family.

The cruiser-carrier concept is identified as the small-carrier line, compatible with later light fleet carrier roles. Strike and battle or fleet carrier ideas converged as larger air groups became possible, with Implacable given as the example. The smaller branch is described as dividing toward escort carriers and a Colossus design influenced by Unicorn. Unicorn's forward aviation-support role connects the design discussion to the earlier mobile-base explanation.
