The Type 076 is considered as an experiment in combining drones with an amphibious aviation ship, with some design features resembling Queen Elizabeth and Trieste. Building only one and then returning to Type 075s would suggest limited satisfaction with the concept. A substantial follow-on class would indicate greater confidence. The operational problem is distance: adding aircraft cannot remove the travel time between their base and the area where they are needed. These are conditional expectations in the November 2025 exchange, before the design's wider adoption was known.
