Fitting guns around dispersed missile batteries

Deck-edge VLS and dispersed magazines are proposed to make room for several gun mounts while retaining radar height and helicopter facilities.

Notes

Moving some VLS cells toward the ship's sides could free centerline space for multiple medium-caliber gun mounts. A narrower superstructure is proposed as a way to retain radar height while making room along its sides, with Zumwalt's deck-edge launchers offered as a comparison. Smaller gun mounts could occupy corner and elevated positions around the ship. Dispersing the missile magazines would avoid concentrating the whole battery in one area. An additional central VLS section could fit between the forward structure and the helicopter facilities, although the resulting Type 83-scale ship would be large.
