Receiving an American-built escort carrier did not mean the Royal Navy accepted every fitted system. British yards removed the supplied fire-suppression equipment, upgraded the electronics, and installed systems trusted by the receiving service. Experience with one of the earliest transferred ships is given as the reason for this caution. Wartime standardisation still required national judgements about damage control, reliability, and operational acceptance.
