Did Britain have a dedicated carrier for pilot training?
Short answerUsually no; it rotated training through working-up, older, and escort carriers, training both pilots and ship crews.
NotesThe Royal Navy rotated pilot training among carriers that were working up, older ships, and sometimes escort carriers. It did not normally reserve one scarce hull permanently for the task. Having trainee pilots operate from a ship that was itself working up gave the carrier crew useful deck and flight-operation experience at the same time. The arrangement suited a navy operating several carriers near the home islands more readily than an American fleet sending its operational carriers across the Pacific.
