Vulcan and Buccaneer exercise stories need separating

Were the stories about British aircraft penetrating American air defenses all Vulcan bomber episodes?

No. The accounts include Vulcans and a separate Fleet Air Arm episode involving Ark Royal; the exact dates and exercises remain uncertain.

Vulcan bomber exercises and a Fleet Air Arm Buccaneer episode involving Ark Royal need to be kept separate. The dates and the Sky Shield label remain uncertain, with claims and corrections offered from memory. These conflicting recollections do not establish a firm chronology of the different penetrations of American air defences. The aircraft, year, and exercise need to be distinguished before drawing conclusions about American air-defence performance.
