Brandenburg-class guns outlived their battleship role

Even after the Brandenburg-class hulls ceased to be useful battleships, their heavy guns could be reassigned to railway artillery or proposed for allied ships.

Notes

The surviving Brandenburg-class ships did not need to remain commissioned for their armament to retain value. Wörth's guns became railway guns, turning naval artillery into land-based heavy firepower. Brandenburg's guns were intended for transfer to the Ottoman Empire to support its ships, although the transfer did not occur. The example broadens reserve thinking from whole hulls to reusable weapons and equipment that can serve another mission after the original platform is retired.
