Where to read about the Brandenburg-class battleships

What is a good source on the Brandenburg class and its unusual three-turret arrangement?

Use a reputable general history of German battleships; no dedicated Brandenburg-class book is recommended here.

The unusual Brandenburg three-turret layout deserves focused treatment, although no strong book devoted solely to the class is identified. A general German battleships volume in the same comparative series as books on French and Italian battleships is the recommended starting point. That kind of fleet-wide reference can place the design alongside its successors. It is also the likeliest route to understanding why the layout was not repeated.
