Bearn's lifts obstruct aircraft handling

Bearn's differently shaped centreline lifts made aircraft movement through the hangar harder rather than easier.

Notes

Graf Zeppelin borrowed from Bearn, making the French carrier's layout a warning about copying an unsuitable model. The carrier's lift arrangement occupied manoeuvring space needed to turn and position aircraft. The layout shows how a specialised mechanism can impair the wider operating system around it. Three incompatible lift arrangements complicated the ship without giving it a useful handling advantage.
