Chapter · 2:20:08-2:22:21

The Baltic campaign after Copenhagen

After Copenhagen, Parker pressured Sweden before Nelson moved east, only to find that Russian naval movement and diplomacy had already changed the campaign.

Notes

Parker sought to detach Sweden from the league before being recalled and replaced by Nelson. Nelson left six ships covering the Swedish base at Karlskrona while he sailed east toward Reval. The Russian fleet had already moved, and negotiations were ending armed neutrality after Paul I's death. The short follow-on campaign shows how quickly naval plans could be overtaken by ice, intelligence, and political change.
