Why Axis neutrality matters to Britain

The proposed war remains viable for Britain only if Germany and Italy stay neutral or become partners rather than opening a simultaneous European front.

Notes

A concurrent European conflict would overstretch Britain and ruin the balance of the proposed war. Germany and Italy might instead remain neutral while consolidating earlier gains, or seek an advantage by cooperating with Britain. Rivalry among fascist governments makes a coherent bloc less automatic than the label suggests. Hitler's eastern ambitions and racial worldview could encourage him to widen divisions rather than immediately fight Britain and the Netherlands.
