The automatic torpedo-boat design confirms the stability problem

Even the game's own automatic torpedo-boat design has severe pitch and roll, showing that the problem is not merely an eccentric player layout.

Notes

The torpedo-boat trial follows the conclusion that destroyer research looks pointless under the revised early-game rules. The automatic design also produces very poor pitch, roll, and weight margins, so player component placement cannot explain the failure by itself. Reducing speed and altering beam still does not produce a convincing usable craft. Earlier versions allowed small ships that were imperfect yet remained within workable margins. The mechanic makes the early campaign feel like a technology lock and tempts players to skip the era, at the cost of inheriting implausible AI-generated ships.
