ASW cruisers as a submarine screen

A submarine contact is judged unlikely to survive because several anti-submarine cruisers are screening the target area.

Notes

The presence of several ASW cruisers immediately changes the submarine's prospects. An undersea attacker cannot be judged apart from the screen around its target, since ships equipped for anti-submarine work can turn the hunter into the exposed vessel. The campaign contact is game state rather than a historical action. Its narrower point is that submarine strength on paper means little without considering the defences it must penetrate.
