The treaty shaped British logistics by limiting new fortifications, enlarged repair facilities, and stronger coastal defences across specified possessions. The 110° east boundary left room to develop Singapore even while Hong Kong and much of the Pacific remained restricted. The provision also constrained American and Japanese base development, limiting every fleet's ability to substitute fortifications for mobile forces. Treaty geography therefore mattered alongside ship construction and fuel stocks.
