Did any ships named Ardent survive long enough to be scrapped?
Short answerYes. An earlier destroyer was sold in 1911, several wooden ships survived, and an Australian patrol boat became a museum ship.
NotesThe reference lists eleven ships named Ardent, with very different fates. An earlier destroyer was sold in 1911, while later examples were lost at Jutland, off Norway and in the Falklands War. A planned A-class submarine was cancelled in 1945. The wooden ships generally fared better, apart from the one that exploded off Corsica in 1794, and an Australian patrol boat became a museum ship.
