Amphibious mobility over isolated vehicle performance

The Boxer and US Marine Corps amphibious-carrier comparison turns on the strategic mobility each would give a British expeditionary force.

Notes

Boxer may be the better vehicle on land, while the US Marine Corps amphibious personnel carrier would offer Britain greater strategic mobility. Making the Army's strike formations amphibious would restore reach and connect them more directly to national defence strategy. In the proposed model, a Royal Marines brigade opens the theatre and Army strike brigades follow through the lodgement. Britain would still need domestic facilities to produce the selected vehicle. Equipment therefore has to be assessed as part of an operational system as well as for its isolated platform performance.
