American capacity outweighs differences in naval standards

Electrical and terminology differences complicate British work in American yards, but spare capacity and willingness make the partnership valuable.

Notes

British and American ships did not share every electrical standard or technical term. Those differences created friction when American yards worked on Royal Navy vessels. They did not outweigh the United States' spare industrial capacity. American willingness to accept the work from early in the alliance made that capacity a strategic resource for the Royal Navy.
