When all-forward armament makes sense

All-forward main batteries can use hull volume and protected space efficiently when treaties, budgets, or shipyard limits make every ton count.

Notes

The discussion starts by separating an efficient arrangement from a universally superior one. Concentrating the magazines and main armament forward can simplify the protected citadel and leave the machinery grouped farther aft. Secondary weapons still have to be distributed around the ship, but the main battery and its explosives occupy one compact region. That economy is strongest when treaty tonnage, budgets, or shipyard capacity make every ton and length of protection count. Without those constraints, the arrangement's tactical compromises become less attractive.
