The Albacore carried more and reached farther, with a torpedo-bomber gross weight around 10,460 pounds and a quoted 710-mile range. The Swordfish comparison is stark: its gross or maximum operating figures were far lower, and its span and length framed a substantially smaller machine. The Albacore's more powerful engine therefore had to move a heavier airframe with greater dimensions and drag. Its paper gains were genuine, but that growth produced a very different aircraft whose handling could not reproduce the lighter Swordfish's character.

The Albacore's performance came with much more weight
Dimensions, weights, and range show an aircraft superior on paper but substantially larger and heavier than the Swordfish.
