Akron was still considered viable in March 1933

A Washington flyover and Panama visit show Akron operating routinely and still regarded as viable only weeks before its loss.

Notes

Akron had returned to routine fleet operations before its loss. It flew over Washington when Franklin Roosevelt took the presidential oath on 4 March 1933 and visited Panama later that month. These operations continued despite the accidents that had marked the experimental programme. The Navy still regarded the airship as a viable working system immediately before its final flight.
