Ajax illustrates how requirements can outrun a vehicle design

A contemporary British Army analogy links severe Ajax vibration problems to requirements, platform limits, and the institutional difficulty of correcting a troubled procurement program.

Notes

French naval administration is compared with a contemporary British Army procurement problem. At the time of the stream, Ajax vehicles were suffering severe vibration and firing difficulties after a platform was loaded beyond the weight for which it had originally been designed. In this account, the program sought CV90-like capability without buying the CV90, leaving a major suspension redesign or vehicle replacement as possible remedies. The criticism is directed at the system rather than the soldiers operating it: capable personnel can inherit equipment whose requirements, platform, and oversight do not align. The analogy shows how a structural design mismatch can persist when an institution treats it as a series of isolated defects.
