The closing minutes invite suggestions for later Key Ships and Key Naval Aircraft episodes, then preview the 2024 aircraft-carrier and flagship theme. Aircraft carriers create room for naval aviation as well as the ships themselves. The added flagship category brings in command vessels outside familiar categories such as battleships, ships of the line, and carriers. Some of these unusual flagships only share a broadly flat-topped appearance with carriers, which provides the playful reason for placing them in the same year's program. This lets the series cover ships that fit poorly in a type-based sequence.

Aircraft carriers and unconventional flagships in the 2024 theme
The planned theme pairs aircraft carriers with flagships so the series can include command vessels that are neither battleships nor conventional carriers.
