Standard class designs and individual shipyard finishing

Age-of-Sail ships could share a standard class design while individual yards gave them distinct styling, fittings and furniture.

Notes

Most Age-of-Sail warships belonged to classes built to a standard design. Individual yards nevertheless took pride in their finishing work, so members of the same class could have distinct styling, internal fittings and furniture. Those variations can make ships appear to be unique builds even when they share a design. The Glorious Heritage class in Andromeda provides a fictional comparison: its ships share a class identity while their finishing differs.
