Question

Which African country had the strongest navy in 2021?

Short answer

Probably Egypt, with South Africa's earlier strength and the smaller but capable Algerian and Nigerian fleets also noted.

Notes

In this 2021 answer, Egypt is identified as probably the strongest African navy. South Africa had previously occupied a stronger position but had declined by the time of the stream. Algeria and Nigeria also fielded respectable forces in this view, although on a smaller scale. The answer is a broad qualitative comparison rather than a fleet-by-fleet measurement. It is a dated snapshot of perceived capability because procurement, readiness, and national resources can change the ranking.
