Adriatic operations and Serbian evacuation

The Adriatic section balances the French victory at Antivari, submarine losses, geography, and the valuable evacuation of Serbian troops.

Notes

The Adriatic was a theater where geography limited both sides and made spectacular fleet action unlikely. The French could overwhelm small Austro-Hungarian forces at Antivari, but submarines and confined waters still imposed costs: Jean Bart was torpedoed, Léon Gambetta was sunk by U-5, and French submarines were lost or captured. The strongest positive achievement in this window is the evacuation of Serbian troops, which kept a major Allied manpower pool in the war.
