The MEKO A400 could combine Aegis, fixed VLS, and modular payloads

A hypothetical MEKO A400 fit could combine Aegis and 96 fixed Mark 41 cells with five to eight StanFlex positions, while a modular 5-inch gun would require a larger interface.

Notes

A hypothetical StanFlex-equipped version of the 12,000-ton MEKO A400 could combine Aegis and 96 fixed Mark 41 VLS cells with five to eight module positions. Those slots could carry Naval Strike Missiles, close-in weapons, and other equipment. A 5-inch gun would not fit the original StanFlex format. It would need the larger StanFlex Plus interface imagined in this scenario, or remain permanently installed alongside the VLS. Such a layout would retain a substantial fixed weapons fit while allowing other equipment to change between deployments.
