Which Star Trek ships could serve as carriers?

A wartime Galaxy-class conversion is the clearest candidate because its large internal volume could support fighters and their operating spaces.

Deep Space Nine shows Federation fighter wings in battles against the Dominion, while their carriers remain largely unexplained on screen. Galaxy-class hulls have enough space devoted to peacetime exploration to offer a possible conversion. One option is to remove some of those spaces and add armor and firepower for a battle cruiser. Another is to use the released volume for a carrier. Leaving large spaces empty still imposes heating and power demands, strengthening the case for giving that volume a useful role.
