Turbulent at Jutland and requisitioned destroyer designs

Turbulent's loss at Jutland illustrates the combat contribution of requisitioned ships whose designs did not precisely match Admiralty requirements.

Notes

Turbulent served with the 10th Destroyer Flotilla and was a Talisman-class loss at Jutland. Regensburg and two large torpedo boats are the suggested attackers, with the V271 and V273 identifications left uncertain pending a notes check. The wreck has protected-place status. Britain had acquired this destroyer from a foreign order. Such ships made useful combat additions even when their designs differed from Admiralty requirements. The Talisman, Medea and Chilean-origin Faulknor groups show the range of ships Britain could obtain when war began.
