Anzac's extra freeboard and slightly larger hull underpin the preference for it among Parker-class designs. The change arrived too late for other ships whose construction was already well advanced. Some members later carried a 3-inch anti-aircraft gun in addition to their 2-pounders. Space for that weapon appears to have been planned into Anzac, but the recollection of when it was fitted remains uncertain. Anzac took command of the 14th Destroyer Flotilla on commissioning. Parker and Grenville performed the leadership role in the 15th Destroyer Flotilla.
