Would Warspite or Hood survive as a museum ship?

A preservation question shows that survival into a second European war, not fame alone, would determine whether an old capital ship remained available to save.

Question

Would a different war record make HMS Warspite or HMS Hood more likely to be preserved?

Short answer

Possibly, but only if the ship remained in service or reserve long enough to survive the later European conflict; otherwise Britain would probably scrap the hull and perhaps retain only a turret or another major relic.

Notes

The Pacific victory alone would probably not save an entire First World War-era capital ship. The decisive factor is the replacement and retirement timeline created by the new construction program. If Hood or Warspite remains available for a later European war and survives that conflict as well, its accumulated service could create a much stronger preservation case. If it is replaced and scrapped before that second war begins, later fame cannot recover the hull, although a turret or other major component might still be retained.
